Launch of a Massive Warehouse Facility by Air India in Delhi
A massive warehouse facility for the storage of more than a million engineering parts for aircraft maintenance has been opened by Air India in Delhi, the airline reported. The facility, which is close to Terminal 3 in the cargo complex at Delhi Airport, will reportedly shorten turnaround times for flights leaving from Delhi, according to the business.
According to reports, this facility offers one-stop storage options for anything from hardware to highly complicated avionics, hydraulics, structural, aero, and mechanical aircraft parts.
Six Air India A350-900 planes are ordered:
Five of the six A350-900 aircraft that the airline has ordered are expected to arrive by March 2024. In addition to this, Air India has confirmed orders for 190 Boeing 737 MAXs, 140 A320 Neos, 70 A321 Neos, 20, 787 Dreamliners, and 34 A350-1000s. Air India finalised its orders for these aircraft with Airbus and Boeing in June of this year. Air India now has 116 aircraft in its fleet, 49 of which are wide-body models. These wide-body models include 27 B787-8s, 14 B777-300s, 8 B777-200LRs, 14 A319s, 36 A320 Neos, 13 A321 CEOs, and 4 A321 Neos.
Efforts at Restructuring by the Tata Group:
The airline division of Tata Group is currently being restructured. Air India Express and Air India are expected to unite as part of this strategic plan, and Vistara will be incorporated into Air India. Tata owns a 49% share in Vistara, a joint venture between Singapore Airlines and Tata.
